On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of membership in the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Executive Board of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee established a special award "Golden Star of Montenegrin Sports". It was decided that the first winner of this award will be water polo player Predrag Jokić, who won all possible medals in this sport. Jokić was the European champion with the Montenegrin national team in 2008 in Malaga, twice in 2012 and 2016 he was the vice-champion of the Old Continent, and in 2013 in Barcelona he was the vice-champion of the world. Also, with the water polo selection of Serbia and Montenegro at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, he was silver. "There was an undivided opinion on this issue in the Executive Board. Predrag Jokić deserved this recognition both in his career and as a human being. I will remind you that he participated in four tournaments of the Olympic Games, that he won everything that could be won in water polo, he is an exceptional person outside of sports, just like in him. He did a lot for the affirmation of Montenegro and our sport in the world, and because of all that, there was not a single moment of dilemma! "- said Dušan Simonović, President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee. The "Golden Star of Montenegrin Sports" award will be given every four years.
