THE ANOC GENERAL ASSEMBLY

The General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) was held in Seoul from October 19th to October 21st.

The assembly was opened by the IOC President Thomas Bach, who addressed the current global situation and challenges facing the Olympic movement in the current social and political context, pointing out that the Olympic movement should be united on its Olympic journey, and that the IOC would continue to provide full support to all National Olympic Committees.

This year's assembly held the election for the ANOC President and the ANOC Senior Vice-President for a mandate of four years. Current Acting ANOC President, Mr. Robin Mitchell, was elected as ANOC President, while the President of the Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani was elected as ANOC Senior Vice-President.

The General Assembly also organised the ANOC Awards ceremony 2022 awarding the best athletes and National Olympic Committees for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

This occasion was also used for the presentation of the reports of the ANOC President and Secretary General, as well as the reports made by the ANOC Athletes' Commission, the Culture and Education Commission, the Gender Equality Commission, the Marketing and New Sources of Finance Commission, the Anti-doping Commission, the Legal Commission, and the International Relations Commission. The Legal Commission presented the amendments to the Constitution, which were adopted. The financial auditor's report was unanimously adopted, and delegates had the opportunity to hear the reports on the past competitions, as well as on the preparations for the upcoming competitions.
