The lecture for Montenegrin coaches and athletes occurred yesterday in Podgorica, spanning a full day and attracting more than forty attendees. Damir Laštra, a specialist in athlete conditioning and rehabilitation, delivered an enlightening presentation titled "Sports Diagnostics and Rehabilitation, along with the Design of Training Programs." Laštra has garnered an outstanding reputation as one of the most successful conditioning coaches, owing to his extensive experience and collaboration with elite athletes. Throughout the event, he introduced state-of-the-art sports diagnostics systems and underscored the pivotal role of data collection in initial assessments as the cornerstone of effective training programs. Laštra underscored during the lecture how precise diagnostics significantly contribute to enhancing sports performance and athlete rehabilitation. By employing advanced methods and cutting-edge technologies, athletes gain a deeper insight into their requirements and limitations, enabling more effective training and rehabilitation planning. In the same event, Igor Ognjenović, a personal trainer and certified sports nutrition advisor, emphasized the importance of appropriate and optimal nutrition, catering to performance and athlete well-being. Additionally, he introduced metabolic testing utilizing the PNOE metabolic analyzer, a method that assesses resting metabolism through indirect calorimetry. Beyond resting metabolism, load-based testing was introduced, customized to suit the athlete's condition, gender, and specific sport-related demands. This form of testing aids in pinpointing limitations while identifying areas for performance improvement.
