Between June 22nd and June 24th, 17 representatives from partner organisations from Western Balkan and EU countries journeyed to Montenegro. This visit, a significant milestone for the Sports as Value project, co-financed by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Programme, was a testament to the project's recognition and support. The project aims to promote the positive impact of grassroots sports and their associated values, showcasing our shared commitment to fostering more resilient, peaceful, and interconnected communities. The visit underscored the ongoing efforts to integrate these values into sports practices and cultivate a strong community spirit through sports. The Sports as Value project emphasises the power of collective effort, focusing on five core values: inclusion, equality, integrity, respect, and fair play. These values are essential in creating a supportive and cohesive environment within sports, encouraging young people to engage in activities that contribute to their personal and communal growth. The campaign's slogan, "With sports values, we strengthen society - together," encapsulates the essence of this initiative, highlighting the shared responsibility and the collective effort required to instil these principles at all levels of sports participation. The visit began with a partners' meeting at the CUE Hotel in Podgorica, where representatives gathered for a comprehensive session to review the project's progress and discuss plans. The meeting also included a brainstorming session on the final conference's agenda, potential speakers, and participants. One of the most memorable experiences of the visit was the collaborative event held during the Olympic Day festivities. This event, known as the 'Club of Friendship,' was a powerful demonstration of the project's values. Coinciding with World Refugee Day, it provided a meaningful platform for children from refugee families, stateless children, and at-risk youth to participate in various sports alongside their Montenegrin peers. This initiative showcased the impact of sports as a universal medium for promoting community cohesion and left a lasting impression on the children involved, reinforcing the project's mission. Over 200 children were exposed to the principles of inclusion, equality, integrity, respect, and fair play during the event. The collaborative activities in Montenegro highlighted the joint effort and dedication to fostering positive values through sports, aiming to instil these principles at the grassroots level. Ultimately, the Sports as Value project seeks to build healthier, stronger, and more unified communities in the Western Balkans. #SportsAsValue #ErasmusPlus #GrassrootsSport
