Meeting – Montenegrin Olympic Committee Hosts Boxing Federation of Montenegro

The President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Dušan Simonović, met today with the President of the Boxing Federation of Montenegro, Aleksandar Klemenko, and Secretary General Marija Čivović, following the awarding of the World Boxing Championship for the under-19 category, which will be held in Budva this October. The event is expected to bring together around one thousand boxers, coaches and officials from across the world.

During the meeting, discussions focused on the importance and significance of hosting this international sporting event for Montenegro, particularly given that it is a youth world championship gathering a large number of young athletes from different countries.

Representatives of the Boxing Federation of Montenegro presented the key organisational plans and upcoming activities, emphasising the importance of timely preparation and coordination among all relevant institutions to ensure the event is delivered in line with international standards.

“The Montenegrin Olympic Committee, as the umbrella sports organisation, will follow the preparations and implementation of this event within its remit, with the expectation that it will contribute to the promotion of sport and the development of young athletes,” said President Simonović, noting that “the Boxing Federation has already demonstrated its organisational capacity and experience to successfully deliver events of this scale.”

The meeting also highlighted the importance of organising international competitions in youth categories as a key element in the development of sport and in creating opportunities for the progress of young athletes in Montenegro.
