President of the NOC Presents Award to Dejan Vukčević

The President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Dušan Simonović, hosted a reception for Dejan Vukčević, a former four-time world champion and winner of numerous medals at major international competitions in ju-jitsu, and on that occasion presented him with an award in recognition of his outstanding sporting achievements.

“The Montenegrin Olympic Committee, as the umbrella sports organisation, has followed Vukčević’s performances at these important competitions with great interest and the highest expectations, which he consistently fulfilled,” said Dušan Simonović, President of the NOC, adding that “it is very important for successful athletes such as Vukčević to remain in sport and, through their example, dedication and knowledge, guide young athletes and support them in building successful careers.”

Dejan Vukčević has concluded his competitive career, and his achievements at world, European and Balkan championships, as well as bronze medals at the World Games in Poland and the Combat Games in Saudi Arabia, place him among the most successful competitors in this martial art, not only in Montenegro.

Although Vukčević was also highly successful in judo, through years of dedicated and demanding work he secured numerous medals for Montenegro.

Dejan Vukčević expressed his gratitude to President Simonović and the bodies of the NOC for the decision to present the award, which recognises, values and honours the achievements of Montenegrin athletes. He emphasised that, although he has retired from active competition, he will remain involved in ju-jitsu, coaching young generations through his school and supporting those at the beginning of their sporting careers.
