NOC Montenegro supports the candidacy of the Royal Capital of Cetinje and believes in the power of sport as an integral part of the city’s identity.
A delegation of the Evaluation Committee of ACES Europe is currently visiting Cetinje as part of the assessment process for the Royal Capital’s candidacy for the title of European Town of Sport 2027.
The delegation was welcomed yesterday by Deputy Mayor Marko Brnović, who presented the development of sport in Cetinje, investments made in sports infrastructure to date, and plans for its further enhancement.
During the meeting, members of the ACES Europe delegation emphasised that the European Town of Sport candidacy represents an opportunity to further promote the values that Cetinje has long embodied. They noted that, through its rich sporting tradition, existing infrastructure and active sporting community, the Royal Capital has significant potential to be recognised within the European network of cities that view sport as an important driver of social development.
The ACES Europe delegation is led by the organisation’s President, Gian Francesco Lupattelli, and includes Evaluation Committee members Hugo Alonso, Adem Sever, Lukáš Vorel and Berislav Čižmek. During their stay in Cetinje, they will assess the city’s sports facilities, existing infrastructure, the work of sports organisations, and initiatives aimed at promoting sport within the local community.
ACES Europe is an international organisation based in Brussels that has been promoting the development of sport at the local level for more than 25 years. Through its awards and recognition programmes, it highlights cities, regions and communities that invest in sport, healthy lifestyles and the inclusion of all citizens.
