The Montenegrin Olympic Committee (COK) and the Gaming Authority (UIS) formalized strategic cooperation by signing a Memorandum, with the aim of promoting sports, protecting young people from the negative effects of gambling and encouraging healthy lifestyles.
The memorandum was signed by the president of COK, Mr. Dušan Simonović, and acting Director of UIS, Mr. Spasoje Papić. This document defines the key areas of joint action and directs efforts towards raising awareness of responsible behavior in relation to games of chance, while simultaneously creating opportunities for funding sports based on revenues from games of chance, through joint work on proposals and initiatives according to the relevant Ministry.
Within the Memorandum, numerous activities are foreseen, including the organization of educational lectures and workshops in schools and sports clubs, conducting research on the impact of gambling on young people, launching media and social campaigns to raise awareness. For the efficient implementation of the Memorandum, a joint working group will be formed which will quarterly analyze the implemented activities and propose next steps. Also, an annual report on the implementation of the agreed initiatives will be prepared.
This Memorandum represents a significant step towards improving cooperation between the sports sector and competent institutions in the field of games of chance and commitment to joint efforts in creating a safer and healthier environment for young people.
