At the International Olympic Academy in Olympia, on September 13, 2024, MEMOS XXVI generation students presented their final projects to the sports community.
The presentations were followed by professors, members of Olympic Solidarity, former and current MEMOS students, representatives of national Olympic committees and other sports organizations, as well as family and friends, live and online.
Maja Peković, Deputy Secretary General of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, won the prestigious Alberto Madella MEMOS award, which is awarded for the best project within the MEMOS program.
Her project entitled “Winning Formula: Mapping the Sustainable Financial Course of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee” stands out as an example of outstanding work and innovative ideas in the field of sports management.
The project deals with the analysis of the financial sustainability of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee (COC) and proposes strategies for increasing financial autonomy. This project aims to explore ways to diversify sources of income and reduce dependence on a single source of funding.
The research analyzed the financial models of other National Olympic Committees (NOCs), especially those from developed countries (PG3), which rely on a wider range of income, including sponsorships, national lottery revenues and commercial activities.
Finally, the project provides recommendations on how COK can improve its financial management and strengthen long-term partnership relations. The focus is on creating stable income through new strategies, which would ensure the long-term sustainability of COK and enable greater support for Montenegrin sportsmen and women.
