Representatives of the Water Polo and Swimming Association of Montenegro visiting MOC

The President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Dušan Simonović, received today the President of the Water Polo and Swimming Association of Montenegro (VPSCG), Nikola Milić, and the President of the Assembly of the Association, Dejan Radjenović.

Water polo has a special place in the sports history of Montenegro, given that our national team has participated in all the Olympic Games since independence. His successes at European, world and Olympic competitions made him a symbol of Montenegrin sports excellence and pride.

During the meeting, they discussed further cooperation between COK and VPSCG, support for athletes in the qualification process and preparations for the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028. Also, the management of VPSCG emphasized that they will launch an initiative to declare water polo as the national sport of Montenegro.

The President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee emphasized the need for the urgent establishment of the Sports Development Fund and the finding of a sustainable sports financing model, in order to ensure long-term support for the development of all sports in Montenegro.

In the end, he used the opportunity to wish the new leadership of the Water Polo Association success in their work, expressing his willingness to continue the good cooperation between the two organizations on the way to the Games in Los Angeles.
