Signing of Scholarship Agreements for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Cycle

The Montenegrin Olympic Committee (MOC) continues to invest in the future of Montenegrin sport through the Olympic Scholarship Programme, which provides athletes with the best possible conditions for preparation and participation in the most prestigious international competitions.

On Thursday, October 30, at 12:00 PM, agreements will be signed with athletes who embody the spirit of Montenegro’s Olympic team. This event will take place at the Hilton Hotel. Scholarships from the Olympic Solidarity (OS) will be awarded to the following athletes for their outstanding results and dedication: Milivoj Dukić (sailing), Marija Vuković (athletics), Miloš Milenković (swimming), Bojana Gojković (boxing), Tomislav Đinović (boxing), Zinedin Bećović (taekwondo), Andrea Komatina (taekwondo), Jusuf Nurković (judo), Andrijana Šutović (judo), Ilija Marković (sailing), and Tea Nikčević (tennis). These athletes represent Montenegro’s highest Olympic aspirations and symbolise dedication and the pursuit of excellence.

Aware that the Olympic spirit and values are nurtured through expanding support to as many young talents as possible, the Montenegrin Olympic Committee has also secured additional funds to provide scholarships for two more athletes – Miloš Božović (shooting) and Nina Dragović (gymnastics). Their performances and results so far show that Montenegrin sport has a broad base and potential deserving of further support.

Scholarships had previously been awarded to four young athletes who were named best in their categories last year: Jelena Vukčević, Jovana Damjanović, Srđan Janović and Viktor Dukić. They are an example of how talent, hard work and community support can lay the foundations for great sporting stories in the years ahead.

The Montenegrin Olympic Committee is also mindful of the long-term prospects of winter sport in Montenegro. It will continue until the completion of the Milano–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games to support athletes Eldar Salihović, Aleksandar Grbović, Anastasija Vukasović, Branislav Peković and Bojan Kosić, with funding provided by Olympic Solidarity. In this way, continuity of support is created for athletes who, with perseverance and commitment, are paving their way to the world’s greatest winter sporting stage.

For team sports, the MOC will provide resources through the Team Support Grant, thanks to the OS Programme, for training camps and scholarships for athletes in team disciplines, fully aware of the importance of collective sports in promoting Montenegro on the international stage.

Finally, as in previous cycles, the MOC will ensure dedicated funds for scholarships for coaches of potential participants at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, recognising that without high-quality and committed coaching staff, there can be no top results or sustained success.

By awarding scholarships, the Montenegrin Olympic Committee once again confirms its strategic commitment to improving Montenegro’s sports system, supporting the development of elite athletes, and encouraging young talent. This programme is not merely financial assistance, but also a clear message to athletes that the MOC and the entire sporting community believe in them, follow their progress and strive to be their strength on the road to success.

In the coming period, the Montenegrin Olympic Committee will continue to enhance its support programmes for athletes, in line with its strategic documents and international Olympic standards, to ensure that Montenegrin sport remains recognised on the regional, European and global sporting stage.
