Montenegro was represented at the Milan–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games (6–22 February) by two athletes – Branislav Peković in alpine skiing and Aleksandar Grbović in Nordic skiing.
Participation at the Milan–Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games marks Montenegro’s fifth appearance at the Winter Olympic Games since regaining its independence. Both athletes competing this year represent a new generation of Montenegrin winter sports competitors, further confirming the strategic focus on youth development.
Branislav Peković competed in the slalom on 16 February 2026, finishing in 37th place, 35.56 seconds behind the winner. With this result, he achieved Montenegro’s best placement in the slalom discipline at the Winter Olympic Games, while the best Montenegrin result in alpine skiing remains that of Bojan Kosić at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games (+16.00 seconds).

Aleksandar Grbović competed in the sprint qualification round on 10 February 2026, finishing in 54th place (+19.72 seconds), and on 13 February competed in the 10 km free technique event, placing 87th (+5:09.60 minutes). Compared to the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, Grbović significantly reduced his time gaps and improved his ranking, particularly in the sprint discipline.

“We are satisfied with the performance of our athletes. In very demanding conditions and strong competition, they demonstrated progress and competitive consistency. The placement of Branislav Peković in the slalom is particularly encouraging, considering that at just 19 years of age he has already achieved a result at Olympic level, which represents strong foundations and great potential for the next Winter Olympic Games. The visible reduction in time gaps achieved by Aleksandar Grbović compared to the previous Games is also encouraging, confirming continuity of work and progress in the Nordic disciplines. The organisation was at a high level, and our athletes had adequate conditions for competition,” said Marina Kosić-Radović, Head of Mission.
The results achieved by Montenegrin representatives at this year’s Winter Olympic Games provide a realistic indicator of the current level of development of winter sports in Montenegro, while also serving as additional motivation for continued work and investment in young athletes during the next Olympic cycle.
