The Sports Commission of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee elected Milivoje Dukić, a prominent sailor, as the new president of the Commission. Dukić will perform this function until the end of 2028.
The composition of the Sports Commission remains unchanged, and the members are Draško Brguljan (water polo), Majda Mehmedović (handball), Marija Vuković (athletics), Danka Kovinić (tennis), Bojan Kosić (skiing) and Filip Radović (para sports).
The Sports Commission of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee was established with the aim of representing the views and interests of Montenegrin sportsmen and women, ensuring that their voice is included in the decision-making process within the COC. The commission serves as a bridge between athletes and COC leadership, promoting Olympic values and advocating the rights and responsibilities of athletes within the Olympic Movement.
The mission of the Sports Commission is to protect the rights of athletes, provide a platform for their representation and actively contribute to the development of sports policies and initiatives that are in the interest of athletes in Montenegro. The commission will represent and protect the rights and interests of athletes at all levels, provide opinions and advice on COC policies, programs and decisions that concern athletes, and promote clean sports by supporting anti-doping initiatives and advocating for ethical practices. It will also encourage the education and personal development of sportsmen and women during and after their sports career, ensure their active participation in decision-making processes within the COK and act as a link between Montenegrin athletes and sports commissions of the IOC and EOC.
In addition, the Sports Commission will participate in European and international sportsmen’s forums, cooperate with the Club of Montenegrin Olympians, as well as with the sports commissions of national sports federations in order to exchange experiences and information about the position of former, current and future top sportsmen and women. Also, it is planned to organize the Sports Forum in Montenegro at least once during the term of office.
Members of the Sports Commission represent the interests of sportsmen and women within the COK, actively participate in Commission meetings and contribute to discussions and initiatives. Their role includes promoting Olympic values, supporting the principles of fair play, inclusion and gender equality, as well as engaging in communication with athletes to gather feedback and convey it to the COC leadership. The President of the Commission acts as the main representative of athletes within the COK, coordinates the activities and sessions of the Commission and regularly informs the Board of Directors of the COK about the activities and recommendations of the Commission.
With this election, the Sports Commission continues its mandate with the clear goal of improving the position of athletes in Montenegro and ensuring their active role in the development of sports policies.
The first meeting of the president of the COK with the president of the Sports Commission was held
The President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Dušan Simonović, held the first official meeting with the newly elected President of the COK Sports Commission, Milivoj Dukić, who will perform this function until the end of 2028.
The meeting discussed key plans for 2025, including international activities and strategies for improving the position of athletes in Montenegro. Special attention was paid to the participation of Montenegrin representatives at the IOC Sports Forum in Lausanne, which will enable the exchange of experiences with athletes and experts from all over the world.
Support for athletes, coaches and national federations was discussed, and the criteria for scholarships were discussed, with the aim of ensuring that financial assistance is best adapted to the needs of athletes. Also, it was agreed that at the end of the year, the Forum of Sportsmen of Montenegro will be organized, which will bring together athletes, coaches, representatives of the federation and experts in order to open key discussions on the development of sports and future initiatives.
The meeting emphasized the importance of strengthening the role of the COK Sports Commission and its active participation in decision-making within the organization.
In the coming period, a meeting of the president of the Sports Commission with representatives of the companies FITREVOLUTION and Artfit, partners of COK within the project of preparation for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, is planned. The goal of this project is to provide comprehensive support to athletes through innovative methods of training, rehabilitation and sports scientific research.
