Olympic Education

The Montenegrin Olympic Committee recognizes the importance of Olympic values as the basis for building a better future, based on the principles of friendship, respect, solidarity and tolerance. The introduction of the Olympic Education Program (OVEP) in primary and secondary schools of Montenegro represents a key step towards the integration of these values into the education system of the country. OVEP, developed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), has already been successfully implemented around the world, including countries in the region. The program focuses on education about Olympic values and promotion of healthy lifestyles, giving children the opportunity to learn through sports and develop moral, social and emotional skills.

In cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, COK initiated the process of introducing OVEP, with the support of the Institute for Education, which gave a positive opinion on this program. The program will be implemented from the next school year, and trainings for teachers will be held to ensure their training for the implementation of OVEP in the classroom. The trainings will include three-day workshops on topics such as the history of the Olympic Games, practical applications of Olympic values, and the development of curricula that integrate OVEP content into various subjects. COK has already translated materials for OVEP, which are ready for distribution and printing, ensuring the local context for the successful implementation of the program.
