Manipulations in sports competitions: Learn about your rights and obligations and report irregularities
Manipulations in sports competitions undermine Olympic values, trust and the inspirational value of sports. Manipulation in sports competitions occurs when an athlete or official cheats in order to remove the unpredictability of a sports competition. They may cheat in order to be defeated in a competition or part of a competition, which is contrary to the Olympic spirit.
In order to prevent an increase in the number of manipulations in sports competitions, all athletes must be familiar with the Code of Conduct drawn up by the Unit for the Prevention of Manipulation in Sports Competitions of the Olympic Movement:
BE HONEST
BE TRUE TO YOURSELF, BELIEVE IN SPORTS
NEVER bet on your sport in the Olympics.
NEVER manipulate in a sports competition and always do your best.
NEVER share inside information. Unpublished information about your sport remains private.
ALWAYS report attempted manipulation or anything suspicious

Rules and Violations
In order to fight this phenomenon in the best way, in December 2015 the IOC adopted the Code of the Olympic Movement on preventing manipulation in sports competitions. Violations of the Code of the Olympic Movement are punishable.
Violations of the Code of the Olympic Movement include six main forms of action/inaction:
– Betting on your own sport;
– Sharing of insider information;
– Corrupt behavior/manipulation;
– Non-cooperation and
– Failure to report.
ALWAYS REPORT IRREGULARITIES AND DO YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO KEEP SPORT INSPIRING
Violations of the Code not only undermine the credibility of your sport, but also the credibility of the general sports movement and all athletes. Therefore, it is a moral duty, not just a responsibility, of all of us to report what we find out or what seems suspicious to us. We have the right and responsibility to contribute to the protection of the moral integrity of our fellow athletes and our sport, by securely reporting any possible violation of which we are aware.
