Maja Peković, Deputy Secretary General of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee (NOC Montenegro), and Ivan Bošković, Chef de Mission, represented NOC Montenegro at the 46th European Olympic Committees (EOC) Seminar and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Olympic Solidarity Forum, held on 9–10 October in Split, Croatia.
The seminar focused on preparations for the fourth European Games, Istanbul 2027, and the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Representatives of the Organising Committees updated National Olympic Committees on preparation progress, including competition venues, accommodation, transport, and delegation arrivals. Sailing has also been added to the European Games programme.
The seminar also presented preparations for the Winter and Summer European Youth Olympic Festivals (EYOF) in 2027, to be hosted by Brașov and Lignano Sabbiadoro, respectively.
The seminar programme included four workshops on delegation preparation, athlete selection procedures for the upcoming Games, cooperation between National Olympic Committees, using new technologies to support delegations, and improving the information provided to athletes and team officials.
EOC President Spyros Capralos opened the seminar and highlighted the importance of direct exchanges with Games organisers and of providing National Olympic Committees with the tools they need to better support their athletes.
During their stay in Split, NOC Montenegro representatives held a series of bilateral meetings with colleagues from National Olympic Committees across the region. They also held a meeting of the National Olympic Committees of the Small States of Europe, focusing on the Games of the Small States of Europe, which will take place in Monaco in 2027.
Montenegro is set to participate in five multi-sport events in 2027: the Winter and Summer EYOF, the European Games in Istanbul, the Games of the Small States of Europe in Monaco, and the Mediterranean Beach Games in Portimão. Sharing experiences, coordinating with organisers, and cooperating with other Olympic Committees are key to preparing Montenegrin athletes for these events.
As part of the seminar, the Piotr Nurowski Awards recognising Europe’s best young winter sports athletes were presented at a gala dinner held at Diocletian’s Palace in Split.
