NOC Montenegro President Meets EKF and Karate Federation of Montenegro Representatives

Dušan Simonović, President of NOC Montenegro, met today with Davor Cipek, Secretary General of the European Karate Federation and Deputy Secretary General of the World Karate Federation, and Igor Ognjenović, President of the Karate Federation of Montenegro.

During the meeting, they discussed organising the European Karate and Para-Karate Championships, which will be held in Podgorica in 2028.

President Simonović expressed his full support for this significant sporting project, emphasising that hosting the championships is both a great honour and a major responsibility for the Karate Federation of Montenegro, NOC Montenegro, and the country of Montenegro.

It was jointly agreed that the 2028 European Championships must be organised in accordance with the highest EKF and WKF standards, with strong institutional support and clearly defined cooperation among all partners involved.

Igor Ognjenović, President of the Karate Federation of Montenegro, emphasised that the Federation continues to work decisively and responsibly to build the organisational, professional and institutional foundations necessary for Podgorica and Montenegro to be worthy hosts to Europe’s best karate and para-karate athletes in 2028.

The participants also discussed the position of the WKF and karate on the international sporting scene.
