SAFE HARBOUR Project Meeting Held in Frankfurt

Representatives of NOC Montenegro took part in the third SAFE HARBOUR project meeting, held on 29–30 June 2026 in Frankfurt and hosted by the EOC EU Office and the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB).

The first day focused on presenting the project’s progress, including the updated GAP Report and the classification of safeguarding issues. Particular attention was given to the development of the European Response Framework through thematic workshops and the definition of common standards within Work Package 3. The programme also included discussions on the establishment of the European Network for Safe Sports.

The second day featured a workshop dedicated to national safeguarding strategies, combining a theoretical framework with practical strategy development sessions. Participants also exchanged good practices and discussed the challenges of safeguarding in sport across Europe. The meeting concluded with an overview of the project’s next steps.

SAFE HARBOUR is a project co-funded by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ 2024 programme. Its objective is to strengthen the capacity of the European sport movement to respond to safeguarding challenges and cases of abuse in sport. The consortium brings together international federations, European National Olympic Committees, the International Olympic Committee, as well as researchers from the Thomas More Institute and the T.M.C. Asser Institute.
