Montenegro’s Padel Team to Make Mediterranean Games Debut, Swimmers and Boxers Also Ready

Montenegro’s padel team will make its Mediterranean Games debut the day after the Opening Ceremony, competing in the doubles and mixed doubles events. For the Montenegrin padel team, the appearance in Taranto represents its most significant international test to date. “This is a major test for us, after which we will see where we stand compared with the leading nations. So far, we have competed twice in the European Championship qualifiers, and this is our greatest achievement,” said Ivanka Simonović.

Montenegrin swimmers Miloš Milenković and Jovana Kuljača are also awaiting the start of competition, having recently competed at the European Championships in Paris. “I would say that, in terms of quality, the Mediterranean Games are on the same level as the recently concluded European Championships. Miloš and Jovana produced their best races in Paris, and I would really like them to finish the season in the best possible way,” said Danijela Franeta.

Strong competition is also expected in boxing, with representatives from traditionally strong boxing nations such as Italy, France and Spain competing in Taranto. Head coach Nikola Ružić said he has great confidence in the Montenegrin boxers. “I personally have great confidence in our boxers, who may look young, but Bojana Gojković and Tomislav Đinović in particular have extensive international experience, while Miloš Roganović has, so to speak, only just entered the senior ranks. This year, he performed very well at several preparation tournaments, and for that reason we decided to give him the opportunity to experience this major stage. I am sure they will have plenty to show,” Ružić said.

Montenegro will be represented in padel by Jelena Matijević, Ivanka Simonović, Đanluka Lamberto Pelonci and Luka Petranović; in swimming by Jovana Kuljača and Miloš Milenković; and in boxing by Bojana Gojković, Tomislav Đinović and Miloš Roganović.
