President of NOC Montenegro Dušan Simonović, Minister of Sports and Youth Zoran Jojić, Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Montenegro in Italy Aleksandar Drljević, and NOC Montenegro Secretary General Andrija Popović visited Montenegrin athletes in the Mediterranean Village in Taranto.
During the meeting, they wished the athletes successful performances at the 20th Mediterranean Games, expressing hope that the Montenegrin delegation would continue its run of strong results and add to the 22 medals won at previous editions of the Games.
Montenegro is represented in Taranto by 55 athletes competing in 13 sports.
“The 20th Mediterranean Games have begun, with Montenegro represented by 55 athletes. We hope that after these first contests and a few small surprises, medals will follow in the coming days. We expect medals from our athletes because we have excellent candidates. We also expect their full commitment and the opportunity to gain valuable experience, and I can see that everyone is in very good spirits,” NOC Montenegro President Dušan Simonović said.
Minister of Sports and Youth Zoran Jojić praised the organisation of the Games, noting that the athletes are satisfied with the accommodation and conditions in the Mediterranean Village. “The overall organisation is at a satisfactory level – the accommodation is excellent, and so is the food, which is among the most important things for athletes. Of course, our athletes are the best, and we expect the best possible results from them. Every placing or medal won will be of great importance to us and to Montenegro,” Jojić said.
